June 12th, 2025 Laurentian Marine Service Department
Subject: Outstanding Repairs on Pontoon Boat
On May 20, 2025, I delivered my pontoon to Laurentian Marine for attention to the following items:
Inoperative trim gauge
Motor trim malfunction
Faulty cylinder on the center log
Spring preparation, including battery recharge
Non-functioning trailer lights
I returned on June 10, 2025, to pick up the pontoon, and was informed by the service clerk that all repairs were complete. However, upon preparing the boat for launch at the marina, I noted that:
The cover behind the steering wheel had not been re-installed.
The battery had not been recharged.
The cylinder on the center log remained unrepaired.
The Bimini top had not been clipped back into place (fortunately without causing damage).
I contacted Laurentian Marine again, requesting to speak with the service manager his name is Doug. After several attempts, I finally reached him, and his explanations were as follows: • The technician, focused on the trim components, inadvertently omitted reinstalling the steering-wheel cover; the screws were placed in the cup holder, and I was advised that I could refit the cover myself. • Regarding the center-log cylinder, I had not specified during intake that it was detaching frequently—though I did report its malfunction when I dropped off the boat. • He questioned whether the battery had even been left on board for recharging.
I appreciate your prompt attention to these outstanding items. Please advise how and when Laurentian Marine will complete the remaining work so I can safely and confidently launch my pontoon for the season.
Please avoid this dealership, I will also file a complaint with Princecraft Headquarter.
Thank you, Richard Labreche

Your reply to the review speaks for itself. I certainly don't need your help, and there’s no need to suggest I go elsewhere—I had already made that decision! But I will forward it to Princecraft.

I've been using Laurentian Marine services for a while now. I have an older boat with an older motor, in fact a few older motors and have ordered parts several times from the parts department. They have very knowledgeable staff and they always give me great advice. I recently brought in my lower end unit to be resealed, the mechanic personally called me to let me know it all went well but recommends a new water pump impeller, as well he explained to me why. They have extremely fair pricing. The staff are always happy to help out and they even offer up free advice (which you don't see anymore). I recommend their services to anyone with old or new equipment.

When I first called I was quoted ‘way less than $1000’ to replace my gearbox and cables. When I dropped my boat off, suddenly the gearbox was $650, plus cables and labour. Was told it would take a week. After a week I called. Gearbox was $750 now, plus cables and labour. Got my boat back after three weeks (they had the gall to tell me it has been sitting fixed for a week and no one called me). Cost $1100 and change. When I got the boat home it was full of water (I dropped it off covered and very clean inside), screws, acorns, leaves, and pieces of plastic. The staff was nice enough, but the service was very disappointing. Full disclosure, they knocked $50 off the price of the gearbox. But still came in at $1100. First and last time I’ll use this establishment.

Incredible service by employee Dane.
I reached out to them for specific parts that I needed to get for my motor that were obsolete by Mercury and they went above and beyond to help me find the parts and the tools and everything I needed. Extremely good and attention to detail. They call you back when they say they're going to which is amazing. Never left me hanging and very attentive. Thank you very much It was a pleasure working with you and looking forward to working with you again

If you need Merc parts call them FIRST! Super knowledgeable and friendly and best prices in the area. Had the starter on my 3.0L Merc fail. I called a half dozen places and all told me it would be at least a week to get the part. Called Laurentian and got a better price than any other dealer and was given the option to have my part shipped overnight. Starter arrived less than 24 hours after I had ordered it and boat was back in business. Can not beat service like that. Picked up some tilt and trim fluid while I was there picking up my starter. Support your local mom and pop shops.
