Rented 2 canoes for a 1 week backcountry trip. Had a small list of last minute things we were not able to bring on our flight to canada and Basecamp had everything we needed and more.
Staff was extremely friendly in person and over the phone (called beforehand to ensure the trip plans were safe enough for our group)
Will definitely go through Basecamp again if I plan another trip starting at an access point that they deliver to.

Had a great experience renting from these guys. I rented a solo canoe, had both canoe & kayak paddles. After losing half my kayak paddle on a dam crossing, they were very understanding and the replacement price was more than fair.
They gave me great advice regarding which solo canoe to use, and I'm thankful for their experience and knowledge. I'll be returning to them any time I'm tripping near their store again.

Camping with Robin, Chris, and Wade is like camping with old friends, if your friends were experts in all things outdoors and brought all of the gear for you. Their outfitting is top notch and all gear is high quality, no-nonsense and well cared for. Their winter camping program is well organized, fun and stress free and I can't recommend it enough; if you are thinking about trying out a winter trip, this is the way to do it for sure! Algonquin Basecamp is also the best place to rent boats for your spring, summer and fall adventures. Thanks AB crew for a great weekend!

Amazing people with well maintained beautiful canoes. Fair price and great senses of humour. They told my friend there was a wild bear in the area where we would be camping, to freak him out...at my request of course. Lol. Thanks for that! This was a few years ago but we will be there in 2 days for our 3rd trip. I'm sorry it took so long to review.

I am not surprised Algonquin Basecamp has an average of 5 star reviews…. THEY ARE FANTASTIC!
I emailed their team to request their suggestion for portaging canoe based on our trip length, number of people and type of gear we were planning to bring. They were knowledgeable and quick to book us over email. Easy peasy.
We decided to take our dog on that 6-day trip… who had never been in a canoe. Long story short we went home early to avoid tipping our canoe and Robin was SO kind to 1) not charge us for accidentally stealing their emergency kit (haha woops!) we promised to bring it back… and 2) discounting us a couple days as I mentioned we would be back to complete the trip we ended abruptly. We were so grateful for their kindness, generosity, knowledge, and positivity.
Their shop also has everything you need…. Food, clothing, accessories… all the gear and gadgets you might need while camping or “forgot to pack and remembered along the way”…. And their prices are very fair!
We definitely recommend renting equipment from Algonquin Basecamp. We had a wonderful experience and felt right at home walking into the shop.
Thanks again Robin, Chris and to the gentleman at the #3 launch cleaning the canoes (sorry we didn’t catch your name!). Your system and processes make renting equipment worry-free and seamless.

If you’re looking for the best place to rent a canoe to get into Algonquin Park, this is the place. Chris and Robin are absolutely amazing folks. Their rates are extremely competitive . They rent all sorts of gear and have a great little shop directly across from the Kearney permit office. They also have a winter camping program to get you started on your winter adventures. What are you waiting for ? Go check them out.

Went here on August 4th, 2017. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products and Algonquin Park. They told me about the lake I was going too, and about how Rain Lake can get bad for parking your cars. When I return the paddles it was raining and they opened the door for me when they saw me coming. Also asked about the trip and the weather on the lake.
Booking the canoes was very easily done over email. I had to add a kayak a few weeks later and it wasn't a problem. There is no down-payment needed, and no canceling fee.
The prices are good and competitive against the competition. Life-jackets are included in the rental price, where many other places charge extra for them. $50 for delivery and pick up of the canoes makes it a breeze to enter and leave the park.
If I end up going back that area of the park I will for sure rent from them again.
