After being a member at ONEC for three years, I feel compelled to share my experience. While the location and setting of the club have great potential to make it the top tennis destination in Ottawa, unfortunately, that potential is seriously undermined by poor management and a lack of structure.
Events are disorganized, and because everything seems to rely on volunteers, there’s little to no accountability. If you try contacting the receptionist, don’t expect a response — in my case, I never heard back.
The general atmosphere also left much to be desired. The club seems dominated by older members, many of whom show little regard for sportsmanship or community spirit. Rather than feeling like part of a vibrant, active club, you’re left feeling disconnected.
The worst aspect by far is the lack of proper facilities. There’s no locker room, and the two outdated showers are located inside a cramped, unpleasant washroom that’s practically unusable.
In the end, what could be a fantastic tennis club is let down by mismanagement and neglect. No one seems proud to be a member, and I can say with confidence that I will not be returning.

My daughter did the Kayaking camp this summer and absolutely loved it. She loved the councellors and learning all about a new skill! Great experience for us both. So wonderful to pick up your child and have all these wonderful stories of adventure pouring out of her! Will definitely be sending her again!

I regret not gathering more information before registering my teen with this sailing club. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet our expectations, and we're left feeling some buyer's remorse.

Building and renovations are 5 stars.
Coffee shop is a 1, been twice and both times the same...excruciating slow and bad service plus the prices are super expensive. Not sure how long that will last with those prices and service? That needs to change.

I sail out of ONEC. It's a great club with very friendly members. Well-designed training program to teach members how to sail. Easy to come and take out a boat once you're approved by the trainers. Boats are old but well-maintained. Very pretty venue!

I love going to this sailing camp. The building is very important to many many many people. The NCC does not take enough care of it. The boat house needs an estimated 3-4 million dollars for repairs.
