Myself and 3 others came up for a week and booked with Bill. We couldn’t have asked for a better host or experience. Bill was hilarious and the perfect outdoorsman he even took the time to go out on the lake and do a refresher course with my friend and I on paddling safety. His dog Bo was certainly a highlight of the trip and one of the best basketball players I’ve had the honour of meeting such friendly staff at the outfitter i am most definitely coming back in the future wether it be a solo trip or with a group again. I would say this trip was THE perfect trip we could’ve asked for despite even getting rained on it was a perfect 5/7

I have traveled through more than 60 countries for at least 5 years in total of my life. And to this day the canoe trip we made with Bill in Algonquin park remains one of my favourite experiences. The beauty and serenity of Algonquin is just breathtaking and brings an inner peace within that is quite unique. And Bill is the perfect laid-back and funny host to experience it with. Back in 2006 we came with a group of foreign exchange students from the University of Toronto. The students were from all different backgrounds and countries, some a bit more naive and inexperienced with roughing it in nature than others. But Bill managed to make each and everyone feel at ease and comfortable enough to go about with our canoes. I really hope to make it back again one day. I would definitely recommend Algonquin and The Northern Wilderness Outfitters to anyone.

My friends and I just completed our 3rd canoe trip from Northern Wilderness Outfitters into Algonquin. Bill, Sandee, Ally and everyone at NWO are a huge reason why we keep coming back, and hopefully we will for many years to come. We did one trip with a different outfitter and it just is not the same. NWO gives you a level of personal service that you won't find anywhere else. They have helped us plan our trip each year and make sure that we are well equipped to have a successful trip each time we set out. Pro tip- This year we opted to arrive to NWO a day early so we could get an early start in the canoe for day 1 of our trip. Thank you guys for being so awesome! Already looking forward to next year.

This is a nice place to start off a canoe trip into Algonquin Park. They offer all equipment and also provide rustic lodges and campsites to spend a night before or after the trip. Or you can stay here and enjoy day trips into the park. I wish they had showers.

Amazing people behind this legacy of a business/service. Yes the buildings are older and you need to look twice at the canoes to realize that it's not repairs but preventative ribs on the canoes (lots of rocks would scrap open the canoe without them). All said and done will continue to come back here to rent my canoe and prep before going into Algonquin.

My oldest son and I used Bill this spring to take a trip into the park. having not done any tripping for many years Bill was awesome at providing tips and tricks to assist with packing. The "take this" and "leave that" was super helpful. Being right by the park was excellent as well making the trip a little closer. We went up the day before to ensure we were good to go early the next morning.

Superb !!!!!!
While I paddled to the Algonquin permit office (10 minutes paddle away) Bill at NWO unexpectedly gave my party instructions on everything - from how to properly roll up a sleeping bag, to how to lift a canoe, to how to paddle. He persuaded us to take a much better trip route, fitted us with exactly the right packs and gear -- in short, he made our trip much better by being very interested and involved in our enjoyment of the trip. When we returned on a chilly day, he had a bonfire going to warm us up while he helped unload our canoes! In summary, he did everything he could to make sure we had the best experience possible.
In addition, I never expected an equipment outfitter to enhance our trip but Bill is quite a character with a great sense of humor. Whenever our trip is mentioned Bill's name is always part of the conversation.
