If you are looking for an exceptional backcountry camping and sea kayaking experience, look no further! Horizons Adventures provided my friends and I with a wonderful trip out to the Benjamin Islands, North Channel. The paddling was great, our guides were fantastic, and the scenery - unbelievable. I had a wonderful experience taking the wilderness first aid course with Rick as my instructor. I was supposed to take the course in May, however I had to cancel last minute. He was very accommodating and worked with me to figure out when I was able to attend. The course itself has a lot very useful information and I’m very glad I took it. It was very interactive and hands-on and I definitely learned a lot from it. He made the course a lot of fun and I would 100% take the course with Rick again.

We did the Benjamin Islands and the North Channel trip for beginners. Our guides, PJ and Michaela, were excellent. PJ prepared very tasty meals with an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Both guides were very attentive to us regarding our individual comfort levels on the water. I highly recommend Horizon Adventures for kayaking trips!

Attentive, caring and knowledgable instructors. Awesome place to learn how to kayak and improve your existing skills. I did the level 1 paddling course and would go back to do other courses.
They provided all the gear (safety equipment, kayak, off) required but you can bring your own if you prefer. It's good to practice in your own kayak and with your own gear.
Pro-tip: don't forget to bring a floatie, small rope or chums to ensure you don't lose your sunglasses or glasses while paddling in the vermillion river.

Took Wilderness First Aid with Rick and his daughter Sarah, loved the course presentation and content, relevant to living in the north or anywhere remote. From families going camping, to hunter safety, to day trippers going for a bush walk, this course is filled with useful and up to date information that could help save a life. Highly recommended.
