Ryan and Shana at Forrest the Canoe were our family’s guides on an unforgettable adventure! I cannot recommend them enough if you are in the area and want to explore the great outdoors. They are extremely knowledgeable about the region and expert hikers and nature guides. Whether you are outdoor veterans or novices they can tailor your trip specifically to get the most out of the experience. Everything you would forget to bring, they anticipate (the bug spray was much appreciated!) and all their equipment, down to the trekking poles, is top notch. Throughout our day of exploration they shared information on the flora & fauna we encountered, as well as stories on the region’s people & history.
More than just knowledgeable guides, Ryan and Shana are truly wonderful people which is what made the experience so great. They were very patient with our kids and made the whole trip a lot of fun for them. One of the highlights for us was meeting Mason, a beautiful malamute-huskie, and part of the Forrest the Canoe team. She joined us on a canoe adventure and befriended our kids right away (they are still talking about her).
By the end of our day it felt like Ryan and Shana were family. They even shared locally made treats throughout the day (donuts, syrup, smoked whitefish) including homemade cookies. Shana could definitely open her own bakery! Last but not least – I dropped my phone into a lake (despite them supplying a perfectly good dry bag I chose to ignore) and was disheartened that I lost all the photos I had taken. Shana had that part covered as well, and sent me all the great photos she had taken of our family throughout the day so that we’ll be able to look back on the experience.

Thank you for helping us to explore beautiful Ontario! We had a great experience renting the kayaks with you guys this summer and loved our canoe fall adventure tour! This tour is the best alternative to hiking the overcrowded Robertson Cliffs and provides spectacular views with vibrant fall colours Highly recommended!

Had a great afternoon at Forest The Canoe with my husband and my best friend. We were welcomed by Mason, their beautiful dog. The owners Shana & Ryan have a great energy to them and made us feel welcome and safe! They were ready to give us support on everything we needed with our Kayak rental, and Shana was ready to give us advice on where to go and what to see on lake superior while out in the kayaks.
The kayaks were brand new, everything in the property is really well maintained by the owners. Overall we had a great experience and we are making plans to come back and stay either in the bunky or in the glamping tent!!

Canoeing on Lake Superior i something else really. Our guides Shana and Ryan just made the experience so much fun. I would totally recommend FTC to friends and family.
And Ryan/Shana have the most adorable Husky/Malamute mix called "Mason".

We stayed for a night in the tent and I wish I could have stayed forever. On a weekend trip north we had the pleasure to stay with Ryan and Shana and their dog mason for one night. Set on the rocky shores of Lake Superior, my girlfriend and I captured the most stunning sun set. We stayed in the tent and fell asleep to the waves crashing on the shore. I felt like I was at the ocean. It made us laugh in the am when we were asked if we heard the rain… we did not, we slept that soundly. Ryan and Shana are amazing host who offer guided tours, rentals and so much more. If you are looking for a northern getaway I highly recommend Forest the Canoe.

What an amazing experience! Whether you are an outdoors obsessed person through and through or you are new to nature and doing activities in it, Forest the Canoe has you covered!
Not only do Shana and Ryan have a glorious property with Airbnb listings on it to enjoy the shores of Lake Superior, they also host amazing adventures!
Both the tent and bunkie are great options. The bunkie takes care of most of what you'll need for a great stay and is super cozy! The tent is sturdy, spacious and oh my, the sound of the waves just outside of it is dreamy . The sunsets and stars are unreal and not to be missed.
I also did a day trip where we got in the forest bus, went for a hike and saw gorgeous fall colours. Ryan taught us so much about local trees and animals, we visited a waterfall and at least 3 awe-inspiring lookouts. The pace was great with just the right amount of breaks for water and snacks.
In the afternoon we went for a paddle and it was so relaxing! We went around most of the lake, learned a fun group chant and took many photos.
Both Ryan and Shana were so kind and considerate throughout. They made sure everyone was having a good time and learning and really just taking in the beauty that nature provided.
Can't wait to return for another stay and for more adventures with Forest the Canoe! Thank you so much

We had the pleasure of being able to open the season at the end of May with the best weather! It was a relaxed, varied, informative, fun tour!
