We’ve stayed in many similar cabins and this one tops the charts! Beautiful, luxurious and stocked with all the convenience you would have at home. Sometimes enjoying some nature time in a cabin means you need to forego a little bit of comfort and convenience - this is absolutely not the case at Prunella. It is so comfortable and well equipped! The private hot tub was fantastic - and there were so many fun options to enjoy the lake (paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, a big float deck). Hosts were responsive and very caring! Definitely recommend and would stay again in a heart beat.

My partner Hilary and I had the most wonderful weekend at Chalets Prunella #3. We’ve been dreaming of a romantic weekend getaway at a remote A Frame and this was exactly what we were looking for. The interior is finished beautifully and has everything you need. The back deck has a fireplace and cedar hot tub which we took advantage of as well. The surrounding area was beautiful and we did our best to walk the trails in sunny but -20 Celsius daytime weather. At night we took advantage of the indoor fireplace and projector as we cozied up on the couch to watch a movie. It was perfect.
The hosts were always so quick to respond with any questions we may have had, which was truly appreciated. Thank you to them for creating this beautiful gem of an escape that we look forward to booking again.

Prunella #7 = PERFECTION. My boyfriend and I had been looking for some type of small cabin to rent (ideally with a hot tub) for a while. A few years ago, we had found such cabins while on a road trip in Ohio. But for obvious (to most) reasons, were were looking to stay in Ontario (or at least Canada) this time around. After extensive online searching, we were not able to find anything in Ontario (ugh) but we did come across Prunella Chalets in Quebec. They looked super-cute online, but they were so much more than expected. The amenities are AMAZING. There were even more than listed on the website.
We stayed in A-frame #7. The bed was on the main floor, and there was a reading nook space in the loft. The kitchenette had a two burner induction hot plate, a small fridge with a dedicated freezer (with ice cube trays inside!), a Nespresso machine, French press, coffee bean grinder, toaster, a WAFFLE MAKER (see photos), and microwave. There is no oven (I think #1 and #2 might have an oven), but there is a barbecue located on the back deck (propane and bbq tools included). We brought a small cast iron griddle for use on the barbecue. It came in handy on several occasions (Cajun catfish, grilled veggies, and bacon).
In addition to all the small appliances, there was also everything that you could ever need to cook and eat: plates, pots and pans, cutlery, a wine opener, olive oil, MAPLE SYRUP, dish soap, a tea towel, paper towel, measuring cups and spoons, good knives, and a variety of other kitchen tools.
There is a wood stove inside, but we didn't use it since it was June (although we did think about it one night). There is also a fire pit outside, and we did use that. Ample wood is provided for both. They even provide a large cooler on the front deck (presumably so you can take your beverages to the fire pit or to the lake and keep them cold).
Linens and towels and ROBES were included as well as shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. They have provided everything so you can just show up and relax. The sisters have truly taken care of everything so you can enjoy your time.
And I cannot forget the hot tub (which was the main thing we were looking for). It's located on the back deck. It's just big enough for 2-3 people to fit in it. It's made out of wood. So beautiful.
The bed was very comfortable; they had great wifi; they have some moderate trails on the property; and lake access is a short walk away where you can find canoes, kayaks, and SUPS. The water was a little chilly for swimming (but we did go in briefly).
The setting is so beautiful and so tranquil. It was about a 5-6 hour drive from Toronto (with stops). I can't wait to go back.

We stayed at Prunella #3 for two nights and couldn’t recommend it more. From the moment we opened the door to the moment we closed it when we checked out, we were blown away by the careful detail and design of this cozy chalet in the woods. Spotlessly clean and uncluttered too - Scandinavian wow. Nancy and Catherine have truly created a restful and supportive getaway. The hosts were regularly in touch to ensure our stay was flawless. The linens were fabulous and the surrounding forest beautiful. The chalet is perfect for a couple or two close friends but for a family the larger A-frames would be better. The lake is gorgeous but not immediately in front of #3. The hosts provide canoes, kayaks, paddle boards to enjoy and we had no issues with shared use while we were there. We highly recommend the Prunella A-frames and will definitely be back.

This is my fourth stay with Nancy & Catherine, and once again everything was absolutely perfect! They now have seven beautifully designed cabins. This year, I stayed in cabin no 5 which is smaller and cozier than cabins 1-4, yet no amenity was missed for a 4 night stay. I’m already looking forward to my 2026 stay! We visited Prunella for a girls weekend to celebrate our sister’s 40th birthday and it did NOT disappoint! Such an incredible location with the most scenic and picturesque walks from right outside the front door! The amenities were plentiful and there wasn’t a single thing we needed that wasn’t already thought of in the chalet. We thoroughly enjoyed the paddle boards available for use. The communication throughout our stay was amazing- super available and easy to contact and get answers back quickly. I would definitely recommend booking if you can get availability!!!

We really enjoyed our time at the A frame - the space was beautifully decorated, clean, and warm and inviting. They had lawn games to play with, we build a few fires and even enjoyed a fireside dinner on the patio. The hot tub was a bonus and we loved the loft netting at the very top- a little escape space to rest, read, write, meditate, etc.
We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who is looking to escape into the peacefulness of nature. The hosts were fabulous with communication, friendliness and helpfulness.

Prunella was by far one of the best weekend getaway we have had as a family. Who knew this gem was close to Ottawa. Once you are there you have nothing to worry about. Equipment and access to the lake is easily available. The lake was so relaxing. Definitely a great place to stay. Strongly recommend to anyone!
