Avoid Buffalo Canoe Club at all costs!!—especially for a wedding or any major event!!
My partner and I had an absolutely awful experience with this venue. We booked our wedding over a year in advance, did a full site tour, met with their manager, discussed every detail, and put down a deposit. Everything seemed fine—until it all completely fell apart due to their total lack of professionalism and organization.
From day one, their communication was terrible. It was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone, and follow-ups were non-existent. After months of waiting for an update, I finally managed to contact someone—only to find out that the manager we had been working with had left the business months earlier. No one ever informed us, despite the fact that we had a confirmed date and a deposit down. Instead of handling things properly, they scrambled to figure out who we were and whether they had double-booked the date.
After acknowledging that this was completely their fault, they assured us they would review all past correspondence with the previous manager to honor what was promised. Weeks went by with no update. When we finally got a response, they informed us that the former manager had made false promises and that they could no longer accommodate our wedding. Just like that, we were left without a venue—last minute—with no alternative or solution offered.
To make matters worse, getting our deposit back was a complete nightmare. No one knew who I was, they couldn’t find my account, and I was given the runaround for days before finally reaching someone who could process it.
This venue is completely unreliable, mismanaged, and utterly unprofessional. They show zero accountability and cannot be trusted to handle any planned event. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, do yourself a favor and stay far away from Buffalo Canoe Club. Not worth the risk.

Buffalo Canoe Club is an absolute disaster when it comes to customer service. We planned a family gathering there, expecting a smooth experience, but it turned into a frustrating ordeal. If you’re planning an important event, don’t risk it. Buffalo Canoe Club is not worth the stress.

Very run down. Needs updates. From stained carpets to outdated decor. Dark unlit hallways with lights needing replaced.
A beautiful location with views of the water it's a shame the interior is something out of a "horror movie" which was stated by other guests.

We couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting for our wedding. The beach at 6 pm was beautiful, the outer boathouse was so impressive. The food and service were exceptional. Carolyn Gibbs and her staff were amazing. So helpful and friendly. Our friends and family loved it. It was better even than we could have imagined. This venue is like no other!!
