Dealing with Barry jays has been a great experience. Their commitment to customer service is amazing. I bought a 2021 boat from another dealer in SHPK and once they had my money their service was unacceptable even non existent. I then took it to Barry Jays and they fixed everything that was wrong from other dealer and then ended up buying a new boat from John McLevin at Barry Jays. He is very knowledgeable and knew the boat I was looking for. He made the transition seamless and made sure everything was completed, he stays up to date on the boat to this day. John included both myself and my wife in the decisions for our new boat. I would recommend Barry Jays for your next boat purchase or service over anyone else in the Edmonton area. We bought a used 2008 boat and trailer from Barry Jay’s in May 2024, working with Richard who gave us a great experience at the time of purchase.
Shortly after, we took the boat on a trip 3.5 hours out of Edmonton to go fishing. Unfortunately, one of the trailer tires completely blew out in the middle of nowhere. When the service truck finally arrived, we were told the tires were 20 years old which is not only unsafe but doesn’t make sense for a trailer that’s only 16 years old. It was incredibly frustrating, but we gave Barry Jay’s the benefit of the doubt and moved on.
Fast forward to this season: we go to use the boat again and now the tilt/trim system is leaking. A quick Google search showed this is a well-known issue with Volvo Penta, to the point where a replacement kit was created to fix the design flaw. When we contacted Barry Jay’s, we were initially told there was nothing they could do. After following up, they offered to sell us the part “at cost” which ended up being only about 10% off the original quote we got from another place.
Response to their answer: When you spend $20K on a boat, you don’t expect to spend another $1,500 in the first season on a service truck and new tires. Then tack on another $800-900 for a know issue.
They claim the boat passed inspection… if that’s true, I have very little faith in that process… especially since 20 year old tires on a 17 year old trailer somehow made it through.
We paid dealership prices and got private-sale accountability. Still would not recommend.

We loved our experience buying from Barry Jay's. They have an extremely knowledgeable sales team that will listen to your needs and accommodate you for what you are looking for. The entire staff is supportive and efficient, John our salesman was top notch spending quite a few hours with us going over our unit once we picked it up to ensure that we were 1000% confident into it. What impressed me the most is how he made sure my wife was right in there with us and made sure she was also happy and shown how everything worked. I cannot say enough good about the folks @Barry Jay's. Being in sales myself I was amazed by how much they make you feel right at home from the first phone call to the time you pull away. And even better, even after you bought, they are right on top when you have questions and help you through it! I have purchased many vehicles and recreational vehicles. And I can say this has been the best experience we've ever had purchasing from a dealership. This beautiful Princecraft was our first new unit but believe me it definitely won't be the last ! They gave me a fair deal and had all my accessories installed in an immaculate manner and kept their promise on the day of pick-up. Once we're older and look for our new pontoon I know who I will be calling Barry Jay's!

Bought my Princecraft here in 2022. Staff were great, John was the salesman and every time I go back he remembers me and my family. Inl don't have much to compare my experience to since thus was my first boat but I have zero complaints. I would recommend anyone stop by and chat with the staff for anything related to boats.
